    "Pesto di Basilico Genovese D.O.P"


    An exceptional pesto with an intense green colour and a fresh and delicate flavour which is the best we have ever tasted in a jar.


    The secret to it, our supplier says, it the quality of the ingredients which includes Genovese Basil, the best basil, beautifully fragrant and green and from the province of Genoa.


    Traditionally eaten with Trofie, pesto is also enjoyed stirred through with any long pasta like linguine or spaghetti or short pasta like penne and fusilli - simple and delicious.


    Ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts, Genovese Basil DOP, Grana Padano (MILK, rennet, salt, EGG lysozyme), salt, garlic, antioxidant: ascorbic acid, acidity regulator: citric acid.

    Our Producer

    Calvi is a small company founded in 1921 by Giuseppe Calvi and today run by his grandchildren Gianni and Luca Calvi along with some very capable staff.  

    Having grown up in a farming family, Giuseppe initally decided to go into the olive oil business when he returned from driving military ambulances in WW1.  

    Surrounded by olive trees, Calvi is based in Western Liguria on the Italian Riviera.  The Italian Riviera has always been known for the goodness and quality of its olive oil.  You can see the olive trees in the photo above.

    Adding Traditional Pesto to their product list was an obvious step, using their excellent extra virgin olive oil and the locally grown Genovese Basil DOP.
