    "Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva  - 'Green Fruit'"


    A full flavoured Extra Virgin Olive Oil with personality!


    Called "Green Fruit" because it is harvested from green (unripe) olives which give it a lovely fresh, robust and slight peppery flavour.


    It comes in a really attractive dark glass bottle with a classy label.

    Absolutely delicious for dipping fresh crusty bread into! Also perfect for drizzling over fish, meat and salads and making sauces.


    Our Producer

    Calvi is a small oil production company founded in 1921 by Giuseppe Calvi and today run by his grandchildren Gianni and Luca Calvi along with some very capable staff.

    Having grown up in a farming family, Giuseppe decided to go into the olive oil business on returning from driving military ambulances in WW1.  In the early years, olive oil was exported to Italian immigrants in America. In the seventies, production moved towards extra virgin olive oil and the rest of Europe became interested in good Italian oil. 

    Surrounded by olive trees, Calvi is based in Western Liguria on the Italian Riviera.  The Italian Riviera has always been known for the goodness and quality of its olive oil!  You can see the olive trees in the photo above.

    About Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    Extra virgin olive oil is made by simply crushing olives and extracting the juice. It is the only cooking oil that is made without the use of chemicals and industrial refining.

    It is an unrefined oil and the highest-quality olive oil you can buy. There are very specific standards oil has to meet to receive the label "extra-virgin." Because of the way extra-virgin olive oil is made, it retains more of the true olive taste and contains more of the natural vitamins and minerals found in olives.

    You can cook with extra-virgin olive oil, but it is best used at lower temperatures, for example, when softening onions, carrots and celery for a casserole.
