Cascina Veneria Site of the 1949 Academy Award nominated film, Riso Amaro (bitter rice), which told the story of the women who worked in the rice paddies, Cascina Veneria in Lignana has earned its place as one of the best rice farms in Italy. With over 700 hectares of land, it is the largest rice farm in the area. They cultivate many different varieties of rice and the entire production process is carried out and controlled on the farm.
